FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: use for determination of oxygen storage capacity in materials based on metal oxides. Summary of invention consists in the fact that method includes irradiating the analyzed sample with X-rays with energy determined during calibration with reference samples, wherein the difference in absorption coefficients between the reduced and oxidized forms of the reference samples is maximum, absorption coefficients are recorded in oxidative and reducing medium, fraction of difference of these coefficients is determined from difference of absorption coefficients measured for reference samples, and storage capacity of oxygen is calculated according to specified formula.
EFFECT: enabling measurement of the oxygen storage capacity index regardless of the type of reducing gas used and the nature of the oxidized and reduced oxide phases.
