FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for evaluating an external force acting on an electrohydrostatic drive, wherein the drive comprises a hydraulic cylinder, comprising a first chamber, a second chamber and a piston located between the first chamber and the second chamber; pump configured to inject fluid into chambers to control piston movement; and electric motor, which drives pump; wherein the method includes steps of: with the help of at least one status observer (21, 22) estimating a dynamic component and a static component of the equivalent fluid pressure difference between the first chamber and the second camera based on the rotation speed of the electric motor, position of the piston and electric motor feed current using post-processing module (23) evaluating the external force as a combination of the estimated dynamic component and the static component of the fluid pressure difference.

EFFECT: technical result is possibility of determining external force acting on electrohydrostatic drive without resorting to use of sensors measuring pressure difference in hydraulic cylinder chambers or external force.
