FIELD: veterinary science.
SUBSTANCE: what is presented is a method of treating mastitis in animals, involving the use of chemotherapeutic agents, where the following composition is used as a therapeutic agent, wt%: N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)amide of myristic acid – 0.01–2.0, polyvinyl alcohol – 0.5–5.0, sterile distilled water – up to 100.0, which is applied 2 times a day intracisternally in dose of 10–15 ml per one administration until recovery.
EFFECT: wider spectrum of chemotherapeutic agents used for treating animals in mastitis; higher clinical effectiveness in subclinical (catarrhal) and acute (purulent-catarrhal) mastitis in cows; reduced time of animal recovery; use of myristic acid amide as an AA enables to exclude the use of antibiotics in the mastitis treatment regimen; use of amide myristic acid in mastitis instead of antibiotics is a method of solving two problems: first, reducing the level of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms, secondly, eliminating the probability of milk contamination with antibiotics.
