FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to paint industry. Composition for synthesis of alkyd resins, which includes phthalic anhydride, glycerin, semi-drying oil, re-esterification catalyst and sorbic acid. Method of alkyd varnish synthesis includes loading sunflower oil, glycerine and transesterification catalyst, then nitrogen is fed and agitator is turned on at 240–245 °C until complete homogenisation of the reaction mass, after which interesterification with ethanol 1:10 is checked, cooling reaction mass below 170 °C and loading phthalic anhydride, sorbic acid, adding xylene, raising temperature of reaction mixture to 195–205 °C to extract calculated amount of reaction water and achieving the acid value of the obtained alkyd varnish 10–15 mg KOH/g and the VZ-4 viscosity of 60 % alkyd varnish solution in xylene within 50–60 seconds.
EFFECT: invention provides advantages as alkyd-styrene resins obtained based on Appearance and Iodometric scale coloring indicators, film drying speed, hardness and elasticity.
