SUBSTANCE: satellite comprises a low-thrust northern electric motor and a low-traction south electric motor mounted on the zenith side, an eastern low-thrust chemical engine mounted on the eastern side, and a western low-thrust chemical engine mounted on the west side. Orbit controller detects failure of one of low-thrust electric motors. In case of failure, the orbit controller controls the switching pulse of the remaining low-thrust electric motor near the orbital assembly. Orbit controller controls switching pulse of one of low-thrust chemical engines by 90 ± 5° from low-thrust remaining electric motor engagement pulse and controls switching pulse of one of low-thrust chemical engines by 270 ± 5° from the low-thrust remaining electric motor switching pulse.
EFFECT: disclosed is an apparatus and methods of holding a satellite in orbit.
