FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to investigation of properties of materials using calorimetric measurements and can be used in bomb calorimeters of variable temperature to determine combustion heat of combustible gases. Essence of the invention lies in the fact that unlike the known method of determining specific VHV combustible gas in bomb calorimeter is characterized by that after preliminary determination of energy equivalent of calorimeter by combustion of benzoic acid in calorimetric bomb equipped with two electrodes and crucible, removing the crucible from the bomb, removing the electrodes from the bomb and replacing them with screws, under the heads of which the wire is attached for ignition of gas, measuring the volume of the calorimetric bomb without electrodes Vb. Energy equivalent of calorimeter with bomb without electrodes Cg is calculated by formula: Cg=Cb.k-M⋅C, where Cb.k – energy equivalent of calorimeter by combustion of benzoic acid, J/deg; M is difference of masses of electrodes with crucible removed from bomb and installed screws, g; C is specific capacity of electrode material, J/g⋅deg. Further, the bomb is filled with combustible gas, then compressed with oxygen, the bomb is installed in the calorimeter, the gas is burnt, calorimetrically measured is the heat of its combustion and the specific VHV using obtained values Vb and Cg.

EFFECT: increase in the measurements accuracy.
