FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology of assessment of quality of operating engine oil and technical state of internal combustion engines. Disclosed is method of determining state of operating engine oil and technical condition of internal combustion engines by photometry of samples of operating oils. Note here that, during engine operation, working oil samples are taken through certain run, subjected to photometry, optical density is determined, and current state of operating engine oil is determined by product of optical density at vehicle current mileage. Said product characterizes amount of heat energy absorbed by aging oil products. Determining the decimal logarithm of heat energy absorbed by said aging products, plotting the decimal logarithm of heat energy as a function of the vehicle run, on which the change in the state of the operating engine oil is determined for the given run and the effect of the technical state of the engine and the cleaning system on its state from the values of the decimal logarithm of heat energy, and the lower it is, the better is the technical state of the engine, which depends on the mass of oil additions to the crankcase, and the point of intersection of the dependence with the axis of ordinates determines degree of contamination of the oil system of the engine.
EFFECT: high information value of monitoring state of operating engine oil and technical state of engine during operation.
