FIELD: instrument engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrovacuum devices of microwave O-type, in particular to electronic guns, and can be used in traveling wave lamps and klystrons. Method of non-grid beam modulation in O-type microwave devices is carried out in an electron gun containing a cathode, a focusing electrode consisting of two electrodes, and an anode. At that, switching on and off of beam is performed by supply of modulating voltages simultaneously to said two electrodes – for beam closing – close or equal in value and negative relative to voltage cathode, in order to connect the beam to the electrode nearest to the cathode, a positive or negative voltage is applied to zero or small (less than 1 % of the value of the anode voltage), and a positive voltage close to the value equal to or equal to the value of the closing voltage is supplied to the second electrode.
EFFECT: reduced value of beam modulation voltage.
