FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to O-type microwave vacuum devices, in particular, to a traveling wave tube. During the initial switching on and adjustment of the TWT, the voltages on the zero and first anodes are made equal and gradually, at each step of increasing these voltages, while tuning the TWT by rotating the magnets of the MPFS and attaching magnetic and steel elements to the MPFS to obtain the maximum current on the collector, increase the voltages of both anodes to the nominal value of the voltage of the zero anode, and then increase the voltage of the first anode to its nominal value.
EFFECT: reduction of TWT tuning time, increase in the current of electrons deposited on the collector, and avoiding the danger of the slowing-down system burnout.
