FIELD: computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the computer engineering. Method of deleting a file stored on a data storage device, comprising: obtaining initial data on the deleted file, where the source data contains at least the name and location of the file to be deleted; determining deleting parameters, including data on deleted file and context of data storage device, where context includes information on type of data storage device and file system; setting up a deletion algorithm which includes generating a recording structure and determining a recording point for the file to be deleted, according to determined parameters using generation rules, wherein: the recording structure indicates recordable signatures at least in place of the deleted file, the recording point indicates the first recording cluster and the interval with which further recording is performed according to the recording structure; deleting a file by applying the generated algorithm.
EFFECT: counteracting recovery of both deleted files and data contained on data storage device after deleting files.
