FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a switching device with arc chutes. Switching device comprises circuit interruption section (12) having movable contact closure element (22) and at least one first arc chute (18) adjacent to contact closure element (22), each arc chute (18, 20) comprises main partition (BP1A, BP1B) for connection with contact closing element (22) and group of separating partitions (SP1A, SP2A, SP3A, SP4A, SP1B, SP2B, SP3B, SP4B), arranged adjacent to main partition (BP1A, BP1B), partition walls of groups are separated from main partition and each other by means of air gaps (G), and resistors (RA1, RA2, RA3, RA4, RB1, RB2, RB3, RB4) interconnecting at least some of the webs in at least the first of arc chutes (18) to shunt corresponding air gaps, wherein the resistors have values in range of 5 kOhm – 1 MOhm, nominal current values below 100 mA and nominal power values below 1 W.

EFFECT: improved characteristics of current interruption by preventing glow discharges and reduced risk of repeated ignition of arc caused by them.
