FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to switching device (100) for disconnecting electric current, comprising: a main contact holder (265), a movable main contact (130) and a fixed main contact (120), movable main contact (130) is attached to main contact holder (165); arc-extinguishing contact holder (160), movable arc-extinguishing contact (150) and fixed arc-extinguishing contact (140), movable arc-extinguishing contact (150) is attached to holder (160) of arc-extinguishing contact, and fixed arc-extinguishing contact (140) is located parallel to fixed main contact (120); and actuating unit (110) for actuation of holders (165) of main and arc-extinguishing contacts with their transfer from an open position to a closed position or vice versa at a distance of actuation, between fixed and movable contacts of assemblies of main and arc-extinguishing contacts there are separating distances, respectively, when current is interrupted. Switching device additionally includes first gear rack (190) and first gear wheel (180) for actuation of arc-extinguishing contact holder (160), so that when the current is interrupted, the separation distance between arc-extinguishing contacts (150, 140) is greater than the separation distance between main contacts (130, 120).

EFFECT: enabling disconnection of strong current with sufficient speed.
