FIELD: rail transport.

SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to railway transport, particularly, to construction of car-platforms for transportation of timber. Platform car comprises body 1 mounted on running gears 2 consisting of end walls 3, lateral vertical posts 4 and frame 5 with fitting stops 6. Frame 5 has lengthwise side 7 and spinal beams 8, as well as transverse end 9, bolster 10, intermediate 11, central 12 beams. Between each pair of side vertical posts 4 on car frame 5 there is transverse support 13, and each side vertical post 4 is rigidly fixed on longitudinal side 7 beams of frame 5. Side vertical posts 4 have a variable cross-section, the largest in lower part 14, near frame 5, and decreasing to upper part 15 of post 4. Each wall 16, 17, 18, 19 of vertical post 4 is made of sheets of different thickness, and in lower part of 14 walls sheets of greater thickness are installed. Also, surface 20 of post 4 facing the inside of the car forms a right angle with transverse support 13 of frame 5, and the increased cross-section of post 4 is developed on the outer side of the car. Reinforcing member 21 of post 4 extends above level 22 of transverse support 13 of not more than 10 mm, and posts 4 located on both sides of central beam 12 of frame 5, on sides are additionally supported by inclined gusset plates 23.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to create a car structure – a platform for transportation of timber, which provides increase of body durability due to used solutions.
