FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to application of protective and decorative coatings and can be used for cold blackening (bluing) of metal articles from aluminum and aluminum alloys. Composition for cold blacking of metal items from aluminum and aluminum alloys, containing, wt.%: 2–10 of selenium dioxide or selenious acid, 2–10 of copper sulphate, 0.01–3 hydrofluoboric acid, 2–10 orthophosphoric acid, 0.01–3 nickel salts, in terms of Ni2+, 0.01–3 iron III salts, in terms of Fe3+, distilled water – balance. Also disclosed is a method of cold blackening of metal articles from aluminum and aluminum alloys.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at improving properties of composition for cold blacking of metal articles from aluminum and aluminum alloys, which provides obtaining a surface of uniform saturated matt black color.
