FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to audio signal processing means. Cascading overlapping critically sampled conversion is performed for at least two partially overlapping blocks of audio signal samples to obtain a set of subband samples based on a first block of audio signal samples and obtaining corresponding set of subrange samples based on second block of audio signal samples. Two corresponding sets of subband samples are combined with weighting, wherein one of them is obtained based on the first block of audio signal samples, and one of them is obtained based on the second audio signal sample block, to obtain a subband representation with reduced overlapping of audio signal spectra. Performing overlapping critically sampled transforms for the first sample block and the second sample block from at least two partially overlapping blocks of audio signal samples.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of audio signal processing efficiency by reducing redundancy and delay.
