FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and aims at treating age-related nuclear cataracts. Eye drops for treating age-related nuclear cataracts contain a serotonin receptor antagonist, specifically ondansetron hydrochloride dihydrate, as an active ingredient, as well as auxiliary components which increase the therapeutic effect of the active ingredient: substances which provide viscosity of the medium; substances which maintain the pH of the medium; stabilizer of biological, physical and chemical properties and/or resistance to microbial contamination; solvent and water. Components are used in claimed amounts.
EFFECT: use of the invention provides the eye drops having an intensified antidystrophic action, which is caused by the high dosage of the active component and facilitating penetration into the intraocular structures with optimum physical and chemical properties of the solution, which enables to maximize the pathogenetically substantiated therapeutic effect of the active ingredient when treating age-related nuclear cataracts.
