FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and is intended for the prevention and treatment of early manifestations of age-related nuclear cataract. The eye drops contain, as an active ingredient, a serotonin receptor antagonist, namely ondansetron hydrochloride dihydrate, in a wider reduced dosage range. Additionally, they contain auxiliary components that increase the prophylactic and therapeutic effect of small doses of the active component: a prolonger of contact time with the ocular surface, a pH regulator of the medium, a stabilizer of biological, physicochemical properties and / or resistance to contamination by microorganisms. The components are used in the stated quantities.
EFFECT: use of the invention provides the creation of improved eye drops with a metered prophylactic and therapeutic anti-dystrophic effect, which is due to the optimal physicochemical properties of the solution, facilitating the penetration of small doses of the active component into the intraocular structures.
