SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to pharmaceutical microbiology, particularly to quantitative determination of streptomycin and gentamycin in medicinal agents. What is presented is a method for quantitative determination of gentamycin and streptomycin in medicinal agents using a turbidimetric method and a liquid nutrient medium for culturing microorganisms in quantitative determination of gentamycin and streptomycin in medicinal agents. Disclosed is a nutrient medium for culturing Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 P and implementing a method for quantitative determination of streptomycin and gentamycin. Method comprises growing Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 P in test tubes with nutrient medium containing pancreatic hydrolyzate of casein, fermentative meat hydrolyzate, yeast extract, sodium chloride, sodium phosphate 2-substituted, 1-substituted potassium phosphate, 40 % sterile glucose solution and distilled water in a given amount of components with the addition of a test sample of the drug and in test tubes with addition of the corresponding standard sample for 4.5 hours. Optical density is then determined at wave length 530 nm with subsequent determination of gentamycin or streptomycin by comparing the degree of inhibition of growth of the bacterial population as a result of the test sample of the drug and the standard.

EFFECT: disclosed inventions provide higher sensitivity of the method and shorter duration of the process of determining gentamycin and streptomycin.
