FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to biotechnology. Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for granulating and freezing microbial biomass. Proposed device comprises vessel to accommodate microbial biomass, pressure accumulator, granules collector to allow filling of its inner volume with liquid nitrogen and vapours of liquid nitrogen, cryogenic granulator. Container for accommodating microbial biomass comprises propeller mixer, wherein vessel is communicated via circulation pipeline with cryogenic granulator, and part of circulating pipeline located in cryogenic granulator contains holes in lower wall and represents a gas generator. Cryogenic granulator comprises bubbler, vane mixer and granules unloading device. Method comprises feeding microbial biomass into a vessel, circulating microbial biomass via a pipeline, forming drops in the drop starter, formation of granules with freezing of surface layer of drops when they fall in vapour of liquid nitrogen, continuous mixing of liquid nitrogen with freezing granules and removal of granules.
EFFECT: invention increases output of the amount of usable granules having the same shape, the same qualitative and quantitative composition.
