FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of carbonised fibers using modified polyvinyl-alcohol (PVA) fiber. Modes of modification of oriented PVA-fibers with potassium bisulphate include the following stages. Application of potassium bisulphate on surface of PVA fiber, drying of PVA-fiber before precipitation of crystals of potassium bisulphate on surface of fiber, heat treatment, preliminary thermal stabilization of modified PVA fibers in gaseous medium at 350–600 °C. Application of potassium bisulphate on PVA-fibers includes: wetting of PVA-fiber with potassium bisulphate solution, drying till crystals precipitation on fiber surface. Methods of carbonisation using modified PVA fibers as a precursor include the following stages. Modification of oriented PVA-fibers, including heat treatment and preliminary thermal stabilization, and carbonization of PVA-fibers at 1000–1500 °C.

EFFECT: accelerated process of physical connection of potassium bisulphate and PVA-fiber, which enables to combine all stages of production of carbonised fiber into a single process.
