FIELD: fibers.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of carbon fibers, more specifically, to carbon fibers produced from precursors obtained from biological sources. The method for production of carbon fiber or set of fibers includes combining a structured precursor containing a fiber or set of hydrocellulose fibers and an unstructured precursor containing lignin or derivative thereof in form of a solution with viscosity of less than 15000 mPa/s to produce a fiber or set of hydrocellulose fibers covered with lignin or a derivative thereof. The method therein additionally includes a stage of thermal and dimensional stabilisation and a carbonisation stage.

EFFECT: reduced amount of carbon fiber production stages, reduced energy consumption, production of carbon fibers with high mechanical stability, high carbon yield and reduced density.
