SAIL DESIGN Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC B63B15/00

Abstract RU 2722608 C1

FIELD: propulsive devices directly acted on by wind.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to design of sail without mast, which replaces role of mast. Design of the sail solves the problem of using the central mast and the associated classic deck system with ropes. Besides, it provides possibility of single or double design of sail or supports (2) of sail, as well as use of different types of sails, which can be classic sails (1) with crossbars (1.2), self-inflatable sails (1 SN), made similar to those of paragliders, partially or completely inflatable sails (1 TN), which are inflated with the help of excess pressure to achieve airfoil profile of the sail in all cross sections (1 TN) of the sail.

EFFECT: possibility of shortening and storing the sail in the holder without folding the sail on the aerodynamic profile, as well as the possibility of using the sail control systems, which are connected to the autopilot of the ship.
