FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of producing 1-butene, which includes: feeding a stream containing C4 into a process for removing paraffin to form a stream enriched in olefins, wherein the paraffin removal process is selected from: (a) an extraction distillation using a solvent containing an organic nitrile; (b) passing a stream having C4 composition through a semipermeable membrane; and (c) combinations thereof; and isomerising at least portion of 2-butene present in the olefin-enriched stream into 1-butene to form an isomerisation product stream comprising at least 80 wt. % of 1-butene; wherein the stream containing C4 contains isobutylene, 1-butene, 2-butene, n-butane and isobutane; wherein the stream containing C4 contains from 40 wt. % to 70 wt. % olefins and from 30 wt. % to 85 wt. % paraffins; wherein paraffin removal process is selected from an extraction distillation, wherein the solvent comprises acetonitrile and characterized by relative volatility C4 compared with the solvent, at least, having coefficient of 1.70, and the solvent is diluted before extraction by a quantity of water sufficient to form a dissolution mixture containing 1 wt. % to 15 wt. % water; and passing a stream containing C4 through a semipermeable membrane containing 30–60 % of a metal selected from silver, copper and combinations thereof, and a metal-chelated polysaccharide membrane.

EFFECT: technical result is resolution or at least reduction of problem associated with non-separation of non-purified streams C4 by typical methods of distillation.
