FIELD: rolling production.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to rolling, particularly, to methods for controlling the speed of rolls of a ball rolling mill. Method includes control of rolls rotation frequency in process of billet feeding into rolls, billet rolling and billet gripping. Increase in resistance of flanges of ball rolling rolls is provided due to the fact that in period between rolling of billet and grip of subsequent billet at load drop, roll speed is reduced to 20–50 % of operating frequency depending on diameter of rolled billet and mill characteristics, and after gripping subsequent billet and appearance of roll moment, rotational speed of rollers is increased to operating frequency, at that control of rolls rotation frequency is performed automatically depending on fixed load by logic code.

EFFECT: technical result consists in a specific contact pressure is lowered to the most wear of the rim at the capture location.
