SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to magnetic measurements, in particular to production control of characteristics of conversion of a magnetic field (MF) of the Earth by a ferroprobe. Method of controlling conversion characteristic of a ferroprobe includes connection of an excitation source to an excitation winding of a ferroprobe, connecting the measuring device to the signal winding of the ferroprobe, placing the ferroprobe in the magnetic screen, connecting the DC source to the signal winding, setting a series of DC values in the signal winding of the ferroprobe and measuring a series of second harmonic voltages in the output signal of the ferroprobe with a measuring device. At that, row of values of direct current i is limited by three values ij∈(i1, i2 = 0, i3) with j = 1, 2, 3, current i1 value is set close to the limit value of the operating range of the ferroprobe by monitoring the second harmonic voltage U(i) in the output signal of the ferroprobe, setting the current value i3 of such value, at which voltage U3(i3) of the measuring device is zero, comparing value U2(i2) with the first production tolerance, calculating the slope of the conversion characteristic of the ferroprobe by formula S=U1/(i1-i3), comparing value |S| with the second production tolerance, when the comparison results are matched to production tolerances, the ferroprobe is put into operation.
EFFECT: high information content and accuracy of controlling the ferroprobe conversion characteristic during production control.
