SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method, a system and a machine-readable data medium for protection against attacks on a website. In the method, a traffic threshold value corresponding to the target IP address is obtained; determining whether the traffic of the visitor in real time for the target IP address exceeds the traffic threshold value; and in case of exceeding, incoming visitor traffic is redirected for the target IP address until a predetermined period of time expires, which is based on rules of determining route free time and the traffic history characteristics to the target IP address, which include the number of times when the visitor traffic to the target IP address has been redirected to the ‘black hole’ type route for a specific historical period of time, peak volume of traffic for the target IP address during that specific historical period of time, or both.
EFFECT: technical result is to ensure the security of the website.
