SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method of treating and/or inhibiting progression of neurodegeneration in a patient in need thereof, comprising administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of a DNAase enzyme, said neurodegeneration associated with an elevated level of extracellular DNA in the blood, or cerebrospinal fluid, or intestine of said patient, wherein said extracellular DNA has prokaryotic origin.
