FIELD: nuclear physics and equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a means of retaining a melt in a housing of a nuclear reactor at a different severity of the accident both in the passive and in the active mode. Internal melt retention system comprises a reactor arranged in a shaft, a coolant circulation pump outside the reactor housing and a storage tank. Accumulating tank is located in shaft under bottom of reactor housing, above bottom of reactor housing additionally arranged are tanks-pits with possibility of collecting cooling liquid in case of accident with loss of heat carrier, accumulation tank is connected to upper part of tanks-pits by channels of cooling liquid supply.
EFFECT: technical result is possibility of using melt retention system in reactor housing in nuclear power plants of various types, as well as increase in their safety due to maintenance of melt retention in reactor housing at various types of accidents at various accident severity both in passive and in active mode.
