SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to systems for ensuring safe operation of nuclear power plants during accidents. Method of cooling melt core of nuclear reactor includes determining location of molten core fragments in reactor housing and core penetration status from information obtained from temperature sensors installed in nuclear reactor, supply of cooling liquid to reactor core, increase or decrease of volume of cooling liquid supply to active zone after fusion of reactor vessel. Degree of destruction of housing of nuclear reactor and time of beginning of melt outflow from housing into melt trap are determined. Cooling liquid is fed into melt trap body with preset time delay. Time of onset of crust formation, time of aerosol release termination, time of steam sorption completion and time of hydrogen formation are determined. Volume of coolant supply is adjusted considering thermophysical parameters of media, volume of coolant supply is adjusted considering minimum and maximum water levels in reactor shaft. There is also a cooling system for melt cooling of core of nuclear reactor.

EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to increase efficiency of cooling melt of core of nuclear reactor.
