FIELD: hydroacoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydroacoustics and can be used in noise direction-finding systems for object detection. Method is based on reception of noise process consisting of additive mixture of noise signal of marine object with interference, two semi-antennae of hydroacoustic antenna transfer of received process to frequency domain, and arrangement of two processing channels: sum channel and difference channel. Process at the input of the sum channel is obtained by summation of power spectra of two semi-antennae, and the process at the input of the difference channel is obtained as a result of difference in power spectra of two semi-antennae. In implementing the method, integrating in a frequency band a signal for sum and difference processes separately, obtaining integral power of total PΣ and integral power of the difference PΔ processes, then, the detection characteristic is formed as the difference between the power of the total and difference processes PΣ-PΔ and the detection characteristic is compared to a threshold, when it is exceeded, it is considered that the object is detected.
EFFECT: eliminating detection of false targets caused by local signals in the observation sector of hydrodynamic interference when the carrier moves, id est reducing the probability of false alarm when detecting offshore objects, wherein the carrier maneuver is not required.
