FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a cable insulation composition comprising the multimodal olefin copolymer, said olefin copolymer having density of 0.935 to 0.960 g/cm3 and MFR2 of 1.5 to 10.0 g/10 min and contains low molecular weight polymer mixture is bimodal homo- or copolymer and high-molecular copolymer, where composition has ESCR of at least 2000 hours and where numerical values of cable wear index and composition MFR2 (g/10 min) correspond to correlation: wear index is less than 15.500 + 0.900 × MFR2 compositions. Invention also relates to a method of producing said composition and use thereof as an outer layer of insulation for a cable, preferably a communication cable, most preferably a fibre-optic cable.
EFFECT: invention enables to produce a composition for insulation having higher wear resistance.
