FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of springs and can be used in production of cylindrical screw compression springs for any purpose. Proposed method comprises spring winding from wire on mandrel using machine to lengthwise support of which working displacements correspond to preset pitch of spring turns. Winding of the spring onto the mandrel is performed with fixation of the mandrel in the self-clamping eccentric cartridge of the machine and maintenance of the wound spring in the forced state for a period of time defined by mechanical properties of the wire, index and number of spring turns. Subsequent smooth release is carried out when the specified number of wound turns is achieved during rotation of the cartridge with the clamped spring in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation when winding by releasing cams of self-clamping eccentric chuck and their braking due to elastic action of wound spring, tending to increase its outer diameter. Duration of rotation of the above cartridge in reverse direction is determined by the sum of its turning time by the angle providing for the cartridge expansion, and time before the machine stopping or before the rotation direction change.
EFFECT: providing stability of geometric characteristics of wound spring.
