FIELD: vehicle lighting systems.
SUBSTANCE: lighting system for a steering wheel unit of a vehicle comprises a light source and a first photoluminescent structure. Light source has a plurality of independently illuminated areas arranged around the circumference of the steering wheel. Photoluminescent structure is placed on the light source and is configured to luminesce in response to excitation by the light source. Light source progressively highlights adjacent sections to notify driver about proposed direction of steering wheel rotation.
EFFECT: higher quality of illumination of various areas of vehicle.
