FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surface hardening of aluminum alloys by means of combined treatment and can be used for application of coatings on parts and articles subject to wear by the proposed method. Method of applying wear-resistant coatings based on aluminum and yttrium oxide on silumin involves an electric explosion of a composite electrically exploding conductor consisting of a two-layer flat aluminum shell weighing up to 60 mg and a core in the form of yttrium oxide powder with weight of 58–89 mg, formation from explosion products of a pulsed multiphase plasma jet, its fusion of silumin surface with absorbed power density of 2.6–2.8 GW/m2, deposition on surface of explosion products and formation on it of composite coating of system Y2O3-Al with subsequent irradiation of surface with low-energy high-current electron beams with energy density of electron beam ES=25–35 J/cm2, electron energy 17 keV with three pulses with electron beam pulse duration τ=140–160 mcs.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at obtaining a coating on silumin, having high microhardness and wear resistance.
