FIELD: nanotechnologies.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nanotechnology and can be used in making luminescent materials for light-emitting diodes, optoelectronic devices and biomedicine. Method of producing carbon dots from a birch bark precursor comprises using soot (obtained from soot after burning birch bark) as a precursor, for which a mixture is obtained, comprising the following components, pts.wt.: deionised water – 100; 25 % aqueous ammonia solution – 36.0–36.6; soot – 0.6–0.7, obtained solution is placed into autoclave and additionally treated with ultrasound, after which it is held in a drying chamber at temperature of 180±2 °C for 4±0.16 hours and cooled to temperature of 25±5 °C, then the solution is filtered, passing through the membrane with cell size of 0.1±0.05 mcm, and subjected to dialysis treatment for 12±1 hours.
EFFECT: technical result is obtaining a nontoxic solution of carbon dots with high luminescence intensity and stability from birch bark soot.
