FIELD: chemistry; ecology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of environmental protection from radioactive contamination, in particular to the conditioning of tritium-containing water. Method involves mixing tritium-containing water with a prepared hardener, stirring with hardener until obtaining a homogeneous suspension and holding till complete hardening. Curing agent used is a mixture of magnesium oxide and partially dehydrated magnesium chloride, which is preliminarily obtained by heating 6-aqueous magnesium chloride. Hardener and the tritium-containing water are taken at a ratio sufficient to obtain the final crystal hydrate of 3MgO×MgCl2×11H2O.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a solid monolithic matrix with high content of bound water (up to 44 wt%), low porosity, high strength (up to 40 MPa) and uniformity.
