FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to encoding audio signals. First audio data is first coded in the first spectral band. Parametric coding of second audio data is carried out in the second spectral band, which is different from the first spectral band. First audio data are analysed in a first spectral band to obtain a first analysis result and second audio data are analysed in a second spectral band to obtain a second analysis result. Compensation value is calculated using first analysis result and second analysis result. Parameter from the second audio data in the second spectral band is calculated using the compensation value. Parameterically encoding third audio data in third spectral band. Third audio data are analysed in a third spectral band to obtain a third analysis result. It is detected, using at least the third analysis result, whether the third spectral band should be compensated or not. Additional parameter is calculated from the third audio data in the third spectral band without any compensation value when it is detected at the detection step that the third spectral band should not be compensated.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improved efficiency of coding.
