More specifically, the present invention relates to an apparatus and method for detecting an earthquake using an accelerometer, device and method are capable of improving reliability of acceleration data obtained from an accelerometer, and authentically determine whether earthquake occurred, based on change between current acceleration data and previous acceleration data.

EFFECT: technical result is high reliability of detecting the onset of an earthquake.
