FIELD: pulp industry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention discloses a barrier layer of cellulose fibers having a hydrophobic size to provide a hydrophobic property of the barrier layer. For example, disclosed barrier layers from cellulose fibers can be configured to withstand a large hydrostatic head (e.g., more than 200 mm H2O) whilst maintaining high air permeability (e.g., 0.5 cu ft per minute per 1 sq ft (0.1524 m3/(m·m2)). Present invention disclosure also includes laminates (e.g., air-permeable multilayer bottom sheet), including one of proposed barrier layers from cellulose fibers and support layer of nonwoven material, located under barrier layer and attached (for example, attached) to it, so that the laminate is configured to exhibit desirable fluid impermeability characteristics (e.g. a characteristic of the absence of pinholes at 400 mm H2O for 10 minutes and/or the like). Present invention disclosure also includes disposable absorbent garments comprising at least one of disclosed layers of cellulose fibers and laminates (for example, including one of proposed laminates as lower sheet for disposable absorbent garment).
EFFECT: disclosed are a breathable bottom sheet, absorbent articles and methods.
