FIELD: transport machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for use on railway rolling stock, in particular for remote measurement of current level of sand in metal bins and for forecasting of sand reserve on forthcoming track of train movement. Device for remote monitoring of level of loose medium contains metal cables, each of which is placed in separate bin with medium and electrically insulated in relation to it, and electronic unit with built-in microprocessor. Cable is arranged in bin middle cross-section area, rope diameter is from 5 % to 10 % of hopper width, and on the external surface of the hopper housing there is an electric signal amplifier connected to the cable, wherein each electric signal amplifier is connected by an input/output to the microprocessor input/output, configured to receive/transmit at a predetermined time intervals a unipolar frequency rectangular signal through the inputs of the electrical signal amplifiers to the cables, and microprocessor is connected by means of CAN bus with interface of railway vehicle control system.

EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency and reliability of device operation with possibility of informing locomotive crews on timely filling with sand.
