SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of encoding and decoding information blocks. Bit stream including encoded image data is received. Intra prediction mode for an image block is determined from said bit stream. Width and height of said image block are determined from said bit stream. Internal prediction direction for said image block is determined by interpreting said internal prediction mode depending on the width and height of said image block. Pixel value is predicted in predicted image block using said internal prediction direction. Repeating pixel prediction for a plurality of pixels to obtain a predicted image block. Said predicted image block is used when decoding an image block from said bit stream to obtain a decoded image block.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of efficiency of video coding and coding of images based on directed internal prediction.
