SUBSTANCE: bitstream containing encoded information related to the block of transform coefficients is received. An indication of the position of the last non-zero coefficient in the scan order in the block of transform coefficients is decoded. The position of said last coefficient is used to determine if an indication of the secondary transform mode is present in the bit stream. The secondary transformation mode is determined by decoding the first syntax elements indicating the secondary transformation mode, if there is an indication of the secondary transformation mode in the bit stream. The secondary transform mode that has been determined is used to determine if an indication of the primary transform mode is present in the bitstream. The primary transformation mode is determined by decoding the second syntax elements indicating the primary transformation mode. The transform coefficients are decoded.
