FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: control unit for engine on internal permanent magnets (IPM) comprises sensor electronics intended for reading phase voltage corresponding to one or more phase terminals of IPM engine, in order to create a corresponding phase voltage signal. Control unit additionally comprises controller electrically connected to sensor electronics and intended to extract one or more harmonics, multiple of three, of the order of the ninth harmonic or more than the ninth harmonic of the main frequency of the signal of phase voltage corresponding to the said one or more phase terminals. Controller is additionally designed to determine engine rotary engine rotor angular position based on selected one or more harmonics multiple of three. Invention also relates to propulsion unit and method of control of IPM engine.

EFFECT: technical result is provision of reliable and accurate determination of rotor position.
