FIELD: forestry.
SUBSTANCE: method of machine tree cutting, characterized by that it includes successive operations of wood grip and retention in initial position by means of gripping and holding mechanism, wood cutting with lever-and-hydraulic mechanism with knives, wherein the lever-hydraulic cutting mechanism directs a pair of knives from top to bottom from the outer surface of the tree trunk to its vertical axis such that their penetration into the tree trunk occurs at the ground level, surrounding the tree, and the knives continued to move until their cutting edges closed on the vertical axis of the tree, removing the tree from the stump, laying of wood on soil, at that knives are made in the form of steel plates, forming at closing four-sided pyramid with top facing downwards.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to exclude splitting and splits formation in root part of stem at collision or removal of tree from stump; increase volume of harvested wood due to tree cutting together with stump timber volume; reducing the force required to cut a tree with any whip volume; to form surfaces of treated logging areas without stumps protruding above ground surface of cutting areas.
