FIELD: logging.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of logging and can be used when felling trees in winter conditions with a high level of snow cover. The method for felling trees at a high level of snow cover is implemented using a harvester head equipped with a rotary blade installed below the saw mechanism. According to this method, at a high snow cover, before grabbing a tree, the rotary blade of the harvester head is rotated to a position perpendicular to the plane of the saw mechanism. Then the harvester head is lowered along the tree trunk, deepening the rotary blade into the snow mass, and the harvester head is moved away from the tree in a horizontal plane. After that, the rotary blade is turned to a position parallel to the plane of the saw mechanism, and the standing tree is captured by the neck of the root, the tree is cut down, it is felled, delimbed and bucked.

EFFECT: invention will provide an increase in the volume of stem wood harvested from one hectare of area, by reducing the height of the stumps left, during the machine felling of trees with a harvester head in winter, with a high level of snow cover.
