SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of logging, in particular to felling trees in winter conditions with a high level of snow cover. The method for felling trees in winter with a harvester using a harvester head includes capturing a standing tree, cutting it down, felling, pruning branches and bucking the captured tree with the production of short logs in the cutting area, followed by the removal of short logs by forest transport. Before capturing the tree, the hydraulic cylinder acts on the earthboard, pushing it along the guides for the overall dimensions of the frame, taking into account the saw mechanism. Then the extended earthboard is buried in the snow mass near the tree trunk, when the compression spring is deformed and the earthboard contacts the end sensor, the deepening is stopped. Then the snow mass is moved away from the tree by moving the harvester head away from the tree in a horizontal plane. The harvester head is lifted in a vertical plane above the snow mass. The hydraulic cylinder acts on the earthboard, moving it along the guides to the position when it is within the overall size of the frame.

EFFECT: volume of stem wood harvested from one hectare of area increases.
