FIELD: engine building.
SUBSTANCE: plasma-ion rocket engine comprises a main annular channel for ionization and acceleration, which is formed by walls of insulating material and which is open at its downstream end, at least one hollow cathode located on the outer side of the main annular channel, is close to its downstream part. Circular anode is located concentrically with the main annular channel and at the distance from the open downstream end. Pipe and distributing branched pipeline for supply of ionized gas into annular anode, as well as magnetic system for creation of magnetic field in main annular channel. Magnetic system comprises radial first external pole piece, conical second outer pole tip, radial first internal pole piece, conical second internal pole piece, multiple external magnetic cores surrounded by external coils, for connection between first and second external pole tips, axial magnetic core surrounded by first inner coil and connected to first internal pole piece, and a second inner coil located downstream of the outer coils. Engine is equipped with corona electrode installed along axis with built-in laser spark plug having cooling system with propellant.
EFFECT: described is a plasma-ion rocket engine.
