SUBSTANCE: system for controlling conditions of growing plants in hydroponic growing systems, method of controlling plant growth conditions using a system and a portable detector communication device configured to be used in a system, comprising at least one detector for measuring at least one property of a substrate for growing plants, a first and a second data processing device, a data storage device. Detector or each detector is configured to measure property or properties of substrate for growing plants and capable of transmitting a detector identifier and the measured property or properties over a communication channel to a first data processing means. First data processing means is configured to: storing previously marked irrigation data in memory, indicating interrelation between multiple values for one or more of temperature, pH level, water content, content of nutrients, oxygen content and substrate plant parameters, and a plurality of required irrigation parameters; processing the measured properties received from each detector to obtain processed properties of the substrate; providing output of data indicating input data of required watering for growth substrate, based on processed properties and previously marked irrigation data; sending processed data to data storage means. Data storage device is configured to store sent data as registered data. Second data processing means is configured to: receive data from the data storage means; calculating predicted properties of substrate based on recorded data; determining the difference between the treated substrate properties and the predicted properties of the substrate; receiving input data on alert conditions for outputting a warning based on said difference; output warning, when said difference corresponds to warning condition.

EFFECT: enabling adjustment of plant growth conditions in response to rapidly changing factors.
