SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to growing plants. System for growing plants includes one or more substrates for growing plants, one or more detectors for measuring the nutrient content, at least one irrigation device and a regulating device. Regulating device is connected to the detectors and to at least one irrigation device. Regulating device regulates the water supply by the irrigation device depending on the measured nutrient content. When performing the irrigation control method, the nutrient content is measured in at least one of the substrates. Water is supplied to the substrates depending on the measured nutrient content.
EFFECT: it is possible to accurately regulate the water and nutrient content in the substrates.
