FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an ioniser, and in particular to a bipolar ioniser for air cleaning using alternating-sign voltage. Such an ioniser is a plate structure comprising a substrate with a heat conducting sheet, a porous emitter plate, a dielectric barrier plate and a porous grounding plate with an ion emission mechanism, wherein said parts are stacked to form stack. According to the above technical solution, the grounding plate and the emitter plate with the ion emission design can generate an electric field of a precise size, and electrons which have left the emitter plate, can be directed away from dielectric barrier plate, to electric field grounding area. Some of these electrons fall on the grounding plate and pass into the grounding plate with formation of electric current, and some electrons fly away and collide with molecules of air inside the room. When the departed electrons reach a certain velocity, oxygen molecules can be excited and can change over to ionized state, thereby improving air quality. When sign-alternating high-voltage voltage is supplied, ions of both polarities are generated alternately, as a result of which gas flow containing ions of both polarities can be directed into air.
EFFECT: technical result is improvement of air quality.
